If you aren’t yet aware of 1000 Words of Summer, check out Craft Talk! Today is Day 2, definitely not too late to start! Day 2 of this challenge happens to coincide with Mexico’s Election Day, so I set aside my main project for a bit to write some flash fiction within the same world, region, and time period of my main project. It’s related to my book, but not particularly spoilery, so I figured I’d post it here!
But first, please, please, please do not take this story as a commentary on any real world political parties. The book this piece is connected to aims to treat different political parties in an equally harsh light, so do not mistake this as an anti-whatever message. This short story was just me providing a different look at some transitions that happen in the book, while calling back to a character who appeared briefly in my first book, Photine.
I think I’ve said enough about that for now. If I say too much more I’ll spoil my book for you guys. Enjoy the story!
